Creating A Pen

When I started making wood pens back in the early 1990s there was only one company selling pen kits.  Now, close to 20 years later the pen making business exploded. I can order pen kits that cost over 150.00 and choose from over a 100 different plastics and wood blanks.

After cutting the wood to size (3/4 X 3/4 X 5.5 - Inches) I cut the wood in half and drill a hole dead center through the wood blanks.

Next, I glue a brass tube in each wood pen blank.   After the glue dries, I square off the ends of each blank and set the blanks on to the wood lathe.

Wood turning the pen blanks to shape so when I assemble the pen all the pieces will fit together perfectly.
