Comfort Crosses

This is a perfect project for beginner woodcarvers.  It helps the carver hone their skills using only a woodcarving knife and applying the four carving cuts (push, stop, v and paring)

Version 5

Mahogany wood

Carved the rose using a carvig knife and micro gouges

Applied three coats of wipe-on polyurethane

Completed as a Christmas 2020 Family tree ornament 

Version 6

Used 1/8" (3mm) thick Mahogany and Maple wood to create this version.  Used a wood burning unit for the inscription. For the finish, I applied 5 coats of wipe-on polyurethane.

Used 3/4" Thick Mahogany wood to create this version.  Applied 5 coats of wipe-on polyurethane
